Simple Skincare Between Facials

The weeks between facials are where results are kept or lost, and the good news is that keeping them takes less than the internet suggests. Three steps done daily beat twelve steps done occasionally.

Step one is a gentle cleanse, morning and night. Not squeaky clean, just clean: a soft cleanser that removes the day without stripping the skin. If your face feels tight after washing, the cleanser is too harsh.

Step two is hydration. A simple moisturiser suited to your skin, applied while the skin is still slightly damp, keeps the water in and the barrier happy. Well-hydrated skin holds the results of a facial for far longer than dry skin does.

Step three is sunscreen, every morning, all year. Wellington's sun does not need to feel hot to age skin, and daily protection does more for long-term skin quality than any serum. It is the least glamorous step and the most important one.

What about actives, exfoliants and the rest? Less than you think. One or two well-chosen extras can help, but layering many strong products is the most common reason we see irritated skin. If in doubt, bring your routine to your next appointment and we will happily edit it down.

That is the whole routine: cleanse, hydrate, protect, and be a little bit boring about it. Your skin, and your next facial, will show the difference.
